By Amazon Customer Who would have thought a book would be recommended by a woman who lived so many years before me? Louisa Mae Alcott mentioned this book in her book "Little men" (what I consider a recommendation)... & I'm sure glad she did! I have a boy close in age to the main character & so, I Connected to it immediately! The boy turning to God for strength through his trials is many a woman's hope for their children & though written long ago, is a joy to read!

By Ellen Montgomery I loved this book, I found out about it from Louisa May Alcott's "Jo's Boys". The boy in the story has to go through a lot, yet he learns to find strength from the One Friend who will never forsake him. It was an encouragement to me and I enjoyed the story (although the language can be a bit hard to understand). I recommend this book to everyone who loves reading classic books!

I recommend it to anyone raising little boys, what amazing character qualities instilled in him. The language is more old English style so your vocabulary will increase by just reading it. Mom's you might cry just to warn you.
