This intercontinental love story features Tino, born of immigrant Greek parents in blue-collar Lorain, Ohio and now manager of a major new hotel in Athens, and September, daughter of the U.S. Ambassador to Greece. Tino is driven, all about work; his few relationships with women have been either perfunctory or mystical. Abandoned in childhood by her mother, September has emerged from a vagabond Foreign Service upbringing as her father's polished social hostess and confidante. Indoctrinated to represent America’s values, she is hesitant to step from her pedestal into the arms of an intense, persistent suitor. Their love story simmers in Greece, Cyprus, and Spain during a turbulent era that embroils the U.S. government --and them--in the fall of the Greek Colonels, the Yom Kippur War, the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, and Watergate. Ultimately, Tino wins September. The question is, can he keep her? As the author entangles his characters in authentically-depicted historical events, he pays homage to both the U.S. Foreign Service and the romance of high-end hotels.

Peter Tomaras is a very gifted writer who utilizes his talents in such amazing ways through very distinctly outlining the details of the various settings, the characters, the implications of the surroundings, and the dynamics of the many relationships. As I read Innkeeper, I could visualize the imagery carefully crafted by Mr. Tomaras. The relationship between Tino and September feels very real, emotional, and true-to-life in many aspects. I felt as though I wanted this book to continue and not come to an end. This is truly an intriguing novel and a must read. Mr. Tomaras has done it again!

Lots of heart By David Russell Lewis They say the best support for writing fiction is getting the facts straight, and this book is the proof of that particular pudding. The weaving of politics, geography, hotel management, historical events and fiction is masterful and rings uncommonly true. In this novel, Peter T. Tomaras took me to a place and time of which I know very little, and combined history and imagination into earthy reality. Of course it is a love story, but it is far from the standard “boy meets girl” fare. It is sweet, it is annoying, it is frustrating, it is rewarding, and it is honest. More challenging than bouquets of wildflowers, more real than the average bodice ripper, Innkeeper is rock solid in its approach to love and uncertainty, featuring characters with true depth, and a storyline with real heart. The politics, the intrigue, the history, and the ebb and flow of a new relationship combine to create a story that is easy to believe. Masterful work. Kudos to Mister Tomaras.

Both were exceptional books and very entertaining reading. Innkeeper was complex in its character development as well as in the storyline. I had trouble putting it down until I finished and when I did I found that I wanted more. I especially liked the way Mr. Tomaras balanced the personal struggles of both Tino and September without causing the reader to place more blame for personal failings on one versus the other. The book was well-researched and the historical basis for both books was quite interesting and compelling. I highly recommend the book and the author. Good reading!!
