1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Angel of Health Care By BeautyFul Word Koko is a vibrant woman who travels from Africa to Britain to make a better life for herself and her family. She has a degree as Teacher but finds it hard to get a position so decides to try something else -- caring for the elderly. She is well read and mostly understands the culture but there are some things that can only be learnt from interaction. She become a staple of the home that she works for 5 years before she decides to move on working for an agency. I don't think I could have put up with half the stuff Koko put up with the lifestyle of caring for others. It is stressful. The families and/or the elderly person can make it worse with unreasonable expectations.I enjoyed reading the jokes before each chapter, many were ones I had not heard before. There were some points where I felt there was too much conversation one example being a conversation between Koko and Mandy that spanned close to 8 pages. I also felt like the story was too long after about 200 pages for the age group of 10-18 especially since I had a hard time sometimes staying focused to complete it to the end. Overall, inspiring read for anyone who is interested in going into the home health care field. It is packed with the truths and fun moments that can happen in that field.

Insightful, humorous, and touching story By Catherine Grainger Koko's 24/7 Day & Night Angels by Grace TeeAuthor Grace Tee takes on a journey of learning in her novel, Koko's 24/7 Day & Night Angels. From her witty and perceptive writing about the life of main character Koko, we learn not just about the life and work of a home health care provider, but we also learn about the importance of compassion, empathy, and respect, for others, and for ourselves. Tee has an exceptionally distinctive writing style that enables her to casual dialogue and seemingly mundane details to convey the honest and heartfelt emotions of her characters, which in turn, reveal the subtle messages that are the truest strengths of the storyline. In addition, Tee includes accurate and eloquent features of location, time, cultures, and people - which truly absorb the reader into the story. We really feel that we are there with the characters as they journey through their lives, and the lessons that they learn for themselves, and that we can learn as well.

Pilgrimage to understanding others By Renee Spicuzza Koko’s 24/7 Day and Night Angels is a novel by Grace Tee that follow the main character, Koko, on her journey from her family and friends, going to the United Kingdom, seeking work as a health care worker. The book focuses on the people she meets, as well as her daily living, whether it was in the United Kingdom, at her job, or with family and friends. There are many discussions that take place that provoke an interesting thought to current and past cultures that I thoroughly enjoyed. Koko compares modern fashion against those of a completely different location and culture, as well as going into the actions that each culture takes and differentiates from each other. As the novel progresses, Koko’s personality grows and she appears to be more accepting of the different cultures and the uniqueness that each presents, as she has more interaction with so many new people. It is an eye opening book and I appreciated the candor of Koko.
