In a spell of nostalgia I reread the series and..... loved every one of the stories yet again. I have no hesitation in saying that the joy of reading books wherein I have no fear of cuss words OR any sexual activities leaves me in a euphoria of contentment. These books are undeniably educational and have the added bliss of being beautifully written. Ah for a return of innocence and delight in the striving for true goodness.

Katy becomes a young woman By Joanna M In this third novel about Katy Carr, our protagonist is a young woman, having completed the New England boarding school with younger sister Clover a year prior. But Katy's education is far from over - she's just been invited to accompany her friend Mrs. Ash, a young widow with an eight-year-old daughter Amy, for a year-long tour of Europe.Naturally, Katy is thrilled. It's the opportunity of a lifetime, as the generous Mrs. Ash has offered to pay all Katy's expenses in exchange for her company. As sad as Katy is to leave her siblings and widowed father for so long, she wants to go and knows she should. In the months that following, the trio visits numerous countries, including Italy, England and France, having both wonderful new experiences and a few close calls. Yet about two-thirds into their journey, a desperate situation may call an end to everything...While this book was overall enjoyable, I just didn't feel the same way as I did about the first two Katy books. Somehow, the book had a different feel, perhaps simply because Katy was the only Carr throughout most of it. In some parts, it felt almost like a history or geography book, as the tourists visit European landmarks and historic spots, citing the background of cities, tombstones and other places at length. This was explained as being due to Katy's intense interest in the places she was visiting, but somehow, that just didn't sit well with me. Personally, I would prefer more of a character-driven novel, as the first two books were. Still, if you enjoyed reading about Katy's adolescent and teen years, you'll want to read this volume as well, if only to continue keeping up with how her life unfolds.

However, I was very sad that I didn't look at the preview before purchasing. Many of the words in this edition run together. For example, in the very first sentence they've invented the word "bedroomfurnished." I couldn't read any further--Very annoying!
