James I have a deep interest in horse character types and was disappointed with this book. I followed the plan to type my horse, but there was no pattern to it. The five-element approach feels a bit hit-and-miss to me. Once a person begins to mix and match the five elements, there is too much variation to keep a straight and meaningful picture of what it all means in real life. The examples in the book are individual horses kept in very constrained environments with very specific jobs to perform. It has certainly helped me understand my horses on a different level. If you are not quite connecting with your horse I definitely recommend reading this book, it might give you a whole new perspective on your relationship with your horse.

She is now 11 years old and I have learned so much from working with her. Madalyn Ward offers great information to help you understand the "why" behind the behaviors you see in your horse.
