0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Mostly good, but has some jolting racist slurs By L.E.Y. The book is set in Kentucky not all that long after the Civil War, and reflects the culture of that day. I would have given it five stars had I not found myself jolted by some racist vocabulary and attitudes. Since this book--light fiction--is in the public domain, somebody ought to rewrite it and take out the racism. It would be a lovely story, which would lose nothing by having that element removed.
