In this story, everyone (including the heroine) are ready to excuse any strange behavior just because the woman is beautiful and can't believe such a person can be evil by nature. I enjoyed it as one of the first books I read for free on my Kindle. I would recommend it highly to anyone who enjoys an old-fashioned murder mystery. It's well worth the time you put into it. I was sorry when I got to the end.

I started reading and found it about impossible to put down. The heroine was perfect, the criminals (especially Jean) were ruthless . The book flowed evenly, until the part that made my jaw drop from surprise! The ending was pretty abrupt, but I guess there was no point in going further. Mr. Wallace put out a wonderful book, that is about honest and good people, as well as the devious killers without the gore and bad language so prevalent today.

By Don Kidwell Preceded by a fine, several page long introduction/biography of the author together with mentions/short synapses of films, television and plays of which is based on his body of works. I'm going to spend long hours watching many of these gems so long as I can find them on Netflix. Sort of wishing there was an ability to jump immediately to the story but a very good book, nonetheless!
